Taipei — Day 3 of a 3-Day Trip in Taiwan

View from Atop Taipei 101

Day 3 in Taipei is a split between our Taipei day before leaving for Singapore and our last day in Asia before returning to BC. It was still quite warm out, but it was smokier than the other days. Note: Taiwan’s air pollution problem is attributed largely due to its topography which traps pollutants in the atmosphere.

Day 3 — Taipei

We headed to Fuhang Soy Milk, located in Huashan Market, for breakfast. Their speciality is the Chinese donut. It is best to arrive early as it does not take long for a queue to form. We waited over an hour for breakfast. I ordered the chinese donut in bread. Carbs on carbs — yum! There are a few other food stalls in this market, but Fuhang Soy Milk is by far the busiest one.

After breakfast, we headed to Taipei 101 Observatory. The observation deck is on the 91st floor where visitors are rewarded with a gorgeous view of Taipei.

We headed to the airport after the observatory. If you have some time, some attractions in the area to visit are Elephant Mountain and the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall. Visitors must hike about 15 – 20 minutes on the Xiangshan Trail to reach the top of Elephant Mountain. Maokong may also be worth a visit for a beautiful view of Taipei.

For dinner, stop at a taiwanese pepper steak stall. The dish gets its name from its pepper-y sauce and is a popular taiwanese dish served on a cast iron skillet with noodles, vegetables, and a fried egg.

After dinner, visit one of the many night markets in Taiwan or head back for an early evening.
